Cities & Municipalities

Professional fireworks displays for cities and towns.

Independence Day, founders' day, holiday lightings, and civic milestones — planned end-to-end with your municipal team.

Since 1993, Southwest Fireworks has helped Arizona cities and towns celebrate with professionally designed aerial displays — a family-owned company based in Scottsdale, working alongside municipal staff and the authorities having jurisdiction over each venue.

Municipal displays sit at the intersection of public safety, community expectation, and civic budgeting. We plan the show, coordinate with the fire marshal and applicable authorities, and produce the event so your staff can focus on the celebration itself.

Every municipal project we take on is scoped to the audience, the venue, and the approval pathway your city requires — not a template.

Why Southwest Fireworks

A partner built for this audience.

  • Trusted by Arizona communities

More than three decades producing displays across the state, from small-town parks to major metro celebrations.

  • Coordinated with the AHJ

We work directly with your fire marshal and the authorities having jurisdiction so approvals move alongside design.

  • Public-safety first

Site geometry, audience separation, weather monitoring, and firing positions drive every design decision.

  • Municipal-grade production

Crewed setup, firing, and full site restoration — with the documentation your risk manager expects.

  • Options at every budget

Show design tuned to attendance and civic budget, from short community celebrations to multi-position productions.

  • Reliable partner

We aim for multi-year relationships with the cities we serve — annual Independence Day programming, founders' events, and holiday lightings.

Types of Events

What we produce for you.

  • Independence Day celebrations

The signature municipal show of the year, scaled to attendance and staged for your venue's sightlines.

  • Founders' day & city anniversaries

Civic milestones with pacing and finales designed for a specific moment in the program.

  • Holiday lightings & winter celebrations

Shorter, family-friendly programs coordinated with tree lightings and downtown events.

  • Festivals & concerts

Aerial finales for city-produced festivals and outdoor concerts — with optional music synchronization.

  • Sports & community rallies

Displays for stadium openings, championship celebrations, and community pride events.

  • Homecoming & parade finales

Timed to a parade route or downtown culmination point.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers for cities & municipalities.

How far in advance should our city book a display?
For Independence Day and other high-demand dates, six to nine months is typical. Off-peak civic events can often be scoped on shorter timelines — share your date window and we'll advise honestly.
Do you coordinate with our fire marshal?
Yes. Coordination with the authority having jurisdiction over your venue is part of every municipal project. We prepare the documentation your fire marshal needs and adjust the plan around their feedback.
Can the show be synchronized to music?
Yes. Optional music synchronization is available for municipal programs and is commonly used for Independence Day finales and civic milestones.
What sizes of shell do you use for a city display?
Shell selection is driven by the venue's safety distances and audience placement, not the other way around. Our shell-sizes guide explains how that works.
Do you handle setup and site cleanup?
Yes. Crewed setup, firing, and full site restoration are included in every municipal engagement.
